Obligatory New Year’s Post

Oh geez, it’s past 11 PM on New Year’s day and I still haven’t written my obligatory New Year’s post… How are you all supposed to know what my resolutions are, or how great or terrible 2017 was, or what my sights for 2018 are if I don’t write a blog post about it?!

First of all, I’d say the first few weeks of 2018 will suck because I’m determined to phase the sugar out of my diet… My sweet, sweet, sugar… It will be missed… It’s a sad story, I tell ya. But seriously, it needs to go. I have to get off the sugar addiction for real this time. I’ve been slowly starting the process since Christmas, actually. The reason I won’t say the first few weeks of 2018 will suck is because my sister and my bro-in-law are coming to visit from Philly next week… YAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAY

I’m excited, can you tell?

Sweet Sweet Sisterface wants to get her first tattoo and wants me to take her so we have an appointment next Thursday with the guy that did my first tattoo. She wants to do “sister” tattoos, so I have agreed to get another small one along with her. Mine may end up being more stylized than hers. I have an idea of how I want it so I just need to figure out where to put it exactly. Obviously I’ll do a reveal when it’s done.

This year I plan to continue with my Russian class, but I have no other Uni courses this coming semester otherwise. I am patiently awaiting nursing courses to start up in September. I finished my Biochemistry course this past semester with an A. Whoop! All other pre-reqs are done, and required non-nursing classes are done. I can’t wait to get started!

2017 was a pretty good year overall. Rough start, but this last several months have been really good. I think my marriage with Jason has been the best it’s ever been. I think we’ve finally figured this matrimony thing out after 14 years! Though. I did totally fall on my back, hit my head, and earned a big ole bruise on my shin on the last day of 2017 while I was ice skating with the kids…. Guh. I do plan for 2018 to be better. Given that we’re settled in Wisconsin now and I’ve got nursing school finally looming… and a book set to be published later in the year!

Resolution wise… I don’t always do these, but I’m gonna try this year. Like I said, cutting out the sugar – especially refined sugars – from my diet among a few other goals. I’ll be phasing stuff out/into my diet so it’s not too restrictive to start and will hopefully make for a longer lasting habit.

I also need to watch my spending better and save up extra $$ to pad my tuition account before school starts, so there’s that. So hey, if anyone wants to donate to the Emma-is-going-to-college fund, PM me, mmkay? LOL Srsly though… do those donate buttons work? ๐Ÿ˜›

Well, anyway. It is getting late so I’ll leave it at that for now. I do hope everyone had a lovely Christmas/Hannukkah/etc… and New Years. Happy and Merry everyone ๐Ÿ™‚

  1. Good luck with your new year resolutions! Getting away from those refined sugar is so much more important than we like to admit. I could honestly live on cake and ice cream if I had to, and even if I didn’t have to. I hope you have a great writing year! -Robert

  3. Good luck with all you hope to achieve this coming year. I’m sure it’ll all pan out nicely for you.

I didn’t even consider an obligatory new year post. I’m winding down the non-fiction with the view to stopping it completely in the coming weeks. I enjoyed doing it while it lasted, but I just want to focus on fiction now. I use writing to escape the real world, so writing about that seems a contradiction.
